Cases that Require a Court Appearance

MUST APPEAR OFFENSES

If you are charged with any of the following offenses you must appear:
• SUSPENDED LICENSE
• SHOPLIFTING
• RECKLESS OR AGGRESSIVE DRIVING
• HIT AND RUN
• POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA
• NO INSURANCE
• SUSPENDED REGISTRATION
• DUI
• DAMAGE TO PRIVATE/PUBLIC PROPERTY
• GAS DRIVE OFF
• CRIMINAL TRESPASS
• LEAVING SCENE OF ACCIDENT
• DRIVING WITHOUT A VALID LICENSE
• UNAUTHORIZED USE OF GAS/WATER
• CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELINQUENCY OF A MINOR
• PASSING A SCHOOL BUS
• OBSTRUCTION
• FLEEING/ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE
• CODE ENFORCEMENT VIOLATIONS
• DISORDERLY CONDUCT
• FALSE INFORMATION TO AN OFFICER
• NO LICENSE

UNDER 21 YEARS OF AGE

If you are under 21 years of age you must appear for the offenses listed above as well as:
o SPEEDING 24 OR MORE OVER THE LIMIT
o ANY ALCOHOL OFFENSE
o RACING
o IMPROPER PASSING ON HILL/CURVE.
You should bring a parent or guardian with you when you come to court.

PLEASE NOTE: Failure to appear for court or to pay your fine by your court date may result in your driver's license being suspended and a bench warrant being issued for your arrest. If you pay the fine before the warrant is issued, there is an additional $100.00 Failure to Appear fee. Once the warrant has been issued, there is an additional $100.00 Warrant Fee.

PLEASE NOTE: It is your responsibility to clear your license with the Department of Driver Services.
Clearing the warrant DOES NOT CLEAR YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OR THE COURT OFFICE CANNOT CLEAR LICENSE SUSPENSIONS. You will need to obtain from the court office and submit to the Department of Driver Services, a release form DDS 912 to clear your license. Contact the Department of Driver Services for reinstatement information.
