Dan Carey
Bio
Dan Carey proudly serves on the Winder City Council representing Ward 3. A resident of Old Town, Dan and his wife have made Winder their home for many years. They are the parents of 11 children and grandparents to 11 grandchildren, who visit often and share in their love for the community. Winder is not just where Dan lives; it’s where his family gathers, where he owns a small business, and where he remains deeply invested in the city’s future.
With more than 40 years in the construction industry and 33 years as a construction superintendent, Dan brings extensive hands-on experience to city government. His career includes building schools, high-rise structures, post offices, and essential municipal infrastructure, including water and sewer treatment plants.
Throughout his career, Dan has worked closely with city councils, municipal crews, inspectors, architects, contractors, and neighborhood stakeholders; giving him a practical understanding of how cities function from the ground up.
Dan owns and operates overnight accommodations in downtown Winder for personal and business travelers. This experience keeps him closely connected to the needs of local entrepreneurs and the importance of a strong, vibrant local economy.
In his spare time, Dan is usually volunteering in the community with his wife, working in his garden or spending time with family and grandkids. They have two springer spaniels (Charlie and Gunner) and cats (Jericho and Kiki).
