Bio

Cris Cook serves as an at-large councilman for the City of Winder. A graduate of Winder-Barrow High School, Cris went on to attend Piedmont University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in science instruction. While at Piedmont, he also played on the university’s baseball team. 

Cris is a retired educator with more than 30 years of experience in public education. He spent 30 years teaching science at Winder-Barrow High School and an additional two years at East Forsyth High School. During his tenure at WBHS, he coached football and baseball, including serving as head baseball coach. At East Forsyth, he coached football and bass fishing. 

Cris and his wife, Jill, have been married for 30 years and have two children. Their daughter, Caroline, is a teacher at Winder-Barrow High School and is married to Jackson Lankford, who also teaches at WBHS. Their son, Jack, is an engineer with Kubota. Jill works as an EIP teacher at County Line Elementary School. In addition to his public service, Cris works part-time delivering prescriptions for Farmer’s Prescription Shop. 

In his free time, Cris enjoys golf, fishing, reading, and spending time with family and friends. He is also active in the community through local volunteer work and as a member of the Rotary Club of Winder.
