The Housing Authority of the City of Winder, Georgia (WHA) is a quasi-governmental agency dedicated to providing affordable housing solutions in Barrow County. Established in 1953 to address a critical housing shortage, WHA offers affordable housing in Winder and the surrounding area. Their team of 16-20 full-time employees serve over 800 individuals, including many children and seniors.

The mission of the Winder Housing Authority is to promote adequate and affordable housing, economic opportunity, and an enhanced living environment for our community. The primary source of funding is the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the authority is operated under HUD guidelines.

The City of Winder appoints five (5) volunteer directors to the Housing Authority Board. Members of the Winder Housing Authority Board serve terms of office of 5 years.

Regular board meetings are held quarterly on the third Wednesday of the month at 2:00 pm at the Wimberly Center for Community Development located at 163 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Winder, Georgia. Any changes to the regular scheduled meetings or special called meeting will be posted to this website. Meetings are open to the public.
