The City of Winder invites the community to Jug Tavern Festival on Saturday, May 30, from 1-9 p.m. at Jug Tavern Park. The free festival will feature live music, food trucks, vendors, family activities and an evening concert by Jefferson native Corey Smith.
The festival, traditionally held in the fall, moves to spring this year for a full day of music and entertainment in downtown Winder.
Festival activities begin at 1 p.m. with craft vendors, food trucks and a Kids Zone featuring inflatables. Families can also explore Touch-a-Truck from 1-3 p.m. and enjoy a performance by Barrow Theatre at 1:30 p.m.
At 2:30 p.m., the Georgia Boot Belles & Beaus will host a free line dancing tutorial in front of the Jug Tavern Park stage.
New this year is a pizza eating contest at 3:30 p.m. Contestants ages 13 and older can sign up onsite during the festival for a chance to see who can eat a pizza the fastest.
Live music continues throughout the afternoon with Fly Betty Band performing from 4-7 p.m. Known for high-energy dance and party music, the band will keep the festival atmosphere going before Corey Smith takes the stage at 7 p.m.
Smith, who grew up in Jefferson and attended the University of Georgia, has built a loyal following through years of independent touring and Southern storytelling songs including “Twenty-One,” “If I Could Do It Again,” and “Drinkin’ Again.”
Food vendors will offer a wide variety of festival favorites and local flavors throughout the day, while retail vendors will line the park with handmade goods, crafts and specialty items.
“This festival brings together great music, local vendors, food and family fun in the heart of downtown Winder,” said Staci Waters, Events Coordinator for the City of Winder. “We’re excited to welcome the community back to Jug Tavern Park for a full day of entertainment.”
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the evening concert.
