Barrow County voters will decide on SPLOST VIII during the May 19, 2026 election, with early voting beginning April 27 and ending May 15. SPLOST VIII is a proposed continuation of the existing one-cent Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax used to fund capital improvement projects across Barrow County and its municipalities.
If approved by voters, the City of Winder is projected to receive funding for future local capital projects, including:
- Non-TSPLOST funded transportation improvements, including roads, streets, sidewalks, trails, parking, and similar projects
- Public safety facilities and equipment
- Parks and recreation projects
- Stormwater infrastructure
- Sanitation facilities and equipment
- Administrative facility upgrades
SPLOST funds may only be used for approved capital projects and cannot be used for day-to-day operating expenses.
