Winder celebrates Georgia Cities Week 

The City of Winder will celebrate Georgia Cities Week April 20–25, 2026, with a series of community events highlighting the people, services, and infrastructure that keep the city running. This year’s theme is “Love Your City.”

“Georgia Cities Week is an opportunity to connect with the community and showcase the work happening every day to serve our residents,” said Mayor Jimmy Terrell. “We’re proud of our team and the services we provide, and we look forward to welcoming the public to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes.”

Events planned for the week include:

Monday, April 20
Gears & Government: Touch-a-Truck and Meet & Greet
5–7 p.m. | Jackson Plaza

  • Touch-a-Truck featuring vehicles from Winder Police, Fire, Public Works, Winder Library, Jackson EMC, Waste Pro, and Northeast Georgia Medical Center
  • Meet representatives from City departments including Utilities & Engineering, Code Enforcement, and The Chimney’s Golf Course
  • Connect with Mayor and City Council members
  • Face painting
  • Food trucks including Chick-fil-A, Pico’s Hotdogs & Tacos, and King of Pops

Tuesday, April 21
Behind the Sirens: Fire Edition
2–5 p.m. | Fire Station No. 1

  • Meet Winder firefighters
  • Tour the fire station
  • Explore fire trucks and equipment
  • Learn how firefighters stay ready 24/7

Thursday, April 23
Pops with the Cops
4–6 p.m. | Winder Legacy Park

  • Meet officers from the Winder Police Department
  • Enjoy popsicles and a casual opportunity to connect with local law enforcement

Cities across Georgia celebrate Georgia Cities Week each year, sponsored by the Georgia Municipal Association, to recognize the essential role cities play in residents’ daily lives. Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, nonprofit organization that provides legislative advocacy, education, employee benefits, and consulting services to its 536 member cities.
