105 East Athens Street
Winder, GA 30680
Main Street Director: Don Wildsmith
The purpose of Main Street Winder is to improve the quality of life within the community by strengthening downtown through concentrated efforts in organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring.
Main Street Winder is designed to recapture the spirit of hustle and bustle of small town life. The more isolated and fragmented our society becomes the more we long to return to the nostalgic hometowns of our youth -- where children rode bicycles, neighbors visited across the back fence and daily business was conducted in shops and offices a few blocks away in downtown.
With vision and careful planning along with the coordinated efforts of local businesses, residents and other interested parties from the community at large, Winder's downtown will enjoy a resurgence of activity. It will serve as an incubator for new small businesses - the building blocks of a healthy economy. A revitalized downtown Winder will increase the community's options for goods and services; whether for basic stables like clothing, food and professional services or less traditional functions such as housing and entertainment. Finally, it will provide an important civic forum, where members of the community can congregate. Most importantly, an economically healthy downtown Winder will encourage a sense of community proide and Winder's future as one of Georgia's best small cities will be assured.
