Yard Waste, Large Items and Debris Pick Up
Yard Waste
Grass clippings, leaves, pine straw and shrub trimmings may be placed at the curb. Small limbs, no larger than 4 feet long and four inches in diameter, should be placed in piles at the curb. Composting your yard waste is a great way to provide a natural fertilizer for your yard and garden. Leaving your yard clippings on your grass does NOT cause thatching.
As of June 1, 2007, leaves, pine straw and pine cones does not have to be bagged any longer. Put these items at the curb and call 770-867-2780 to have the items picked up within seven days.
For Pickup

Bulky Items
Large items such as appliances, furniture, mattresses, lamps, bikes, chairs, tables, plastic pools, barbecue grills and other large items that can't be placed into your garbage cart will be picked up by the Street Department. Appliances containing Freon must have the Freon removed by a licensed technician before the collection can be scheduled.
To Prepare for Pickup: BE SURE TO REMOVED DOORS FROM REFRIGERATORS so children cannot get trapped inside. Do not mix bulk yard waste or garbage. The maximum size for bulk piles is four feet long, four feet high and four feet deep.

Prohibited Materials
Due to State and Federal Regulations, the Winder Street Division can not pick up the following:
- rocks and bricks
- paint cans, brushes and rollers (unless clean and dry)
- any type of oil (motor oil, auto fluids, etc.)
- any hazardous materials
- batteries
- roofing materials, shingles
- tires
- dirt
