Major Schuenemann began his career with the Winder Police Department on July 8th, 1985. He grew up in Blairsville, in the mountains of north Georgia where he graduated from Union County High School. After traveling around and working in various fields he chose the City of Winder as his home and law enforcement as his career. During the 18 years he has worked with the Winder Police Department he has served as Patrol Officer, Investigator, Evidence Custodian, Department Training Officer, and Criminal Investigations Division Commander for a number of years before being promoted to his current position as Police Operations Commander. The duties of his current position include:

• Supervision of all Patrol Functions
• Management of Police Vehicle Fleet
• Management of the Police Department in the absence of the Chief of Police.

During his tenure with the police department he has attended over 2500 hours of advanced training, and has received certifications from the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council in the following areas; Field Training Officer, Intermediate Certification, Advanced Certification. He has also received extensive training as an instructor receiving a General Instructors Certificate and a specialized Instructor Certificate as a Driving Instructor, Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, as well as Speed Detection Device Instructor. He continues to seek advanced and specialized as well as college courses.
