About the Winder Police Department

In 1912, the first Winder Police Department consisted of four officers, including the Chief of Police. Today, the Winder Police Department has evolved into a modern, 47-member department, which is led by Chief Stanley Rodgers.

The Winder Police Department proudly serves the citizens of Winder by providing a wide array of services, including:

  • Neighborhood and business patrol
  • Crime Prevention Programs
  • School Resource Officer Program
  • Bicycle Patrols
  • D.U.I. and accident-reduction patrols
  • Housing Authority Patrol

In 2002, the Winder Police Department achieved State of Georgia Law Enforcement Certification, complying with standards of professionalism and ethics in law enforcement. During 2002, our officers patrolled over 300,000 miles and responded to over 14,000 calls for police services. Officers completed over 4,000 written reports, investigated over 800 motor vehicle accidents, and conducted over 7,000 traffic checks.

The men and women of the Winder Police Department are dedicated to the best service that can be offered to our community, while setting an example for others to follow.
