When sending bonds by mail for redemption, the Finance Departments recommends you take the following steps to safeguard your transaction:
- Make a photocopy of the bonds you are mailing for redemption, and keep these copies in a safe place
- Insure the mailing for the face value of the bond
- Ship the bonds using certified mail
- Consider sending the bonds with a Return Receipt so you are notifed when the bonds are delivered
